These are some of my favorite iconic outfits worn. I remember when I saw these outfits, the scene, the environment, the music… they all struck me instantly.

Marilyn Monroe’s White Dress

Marilyn Monroe’s iconic wore a white dress in the 1955 film “The Seven Year Itch.” Type in google image search Marilyn Monroe and this dress is one of the images that pop up on the first page. A simple, artfully white dress that flows beautifully. The scene that capitulates this outfit into popular culture was absolutely memorable. Stepping over a grate the subway wind blows and moves her dress in a delightful motion. This has been parodied and referenced many times. This dress and Marilyn were a match made in heaven.

It has been imitated millions of times it feel. One example is the “House Bunny” scene that mimics this moment.

Marilyn Monroe’s Pink Dress

Marilyn Monroe is such an icon she made another outfit worthy of being imitated around the world. The pink dress she wore in the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes fits the bill. Memorable, beautiful, and bold and was elevated by the song “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend” and the accessories.

Gloria from Modern Family in 2018 wore this dress in one of the Halloween episode!

Madonna’s Cone Bra

The iconic lingerie was created by Jean Paul Gaultier and showcase in Madona’s Express Yourself song in her Blonde Ambition Tour. It was a bold outfit to wear lingerie as outerwear, which Madonna was quite well known for. The structured cone bra was inspired by the 40s Bullet  Bras.

It also has been said the Fembots in the Austin Powers movie were inspired by Madonna.

Elizabeth Hurley’s Black Versace Dress

The black Versace dress Elizabeth Hurley don when she accompanied Hugh Grant on his premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral, instantly became the talk of the town and been referred to as “THAT dress”.  It was a form-fitting black dress held by golden oversize safety pins.

The dress has helped Elizabeth in her claim to fame, but she and the dress was certainly the perfect pair and it seems there would be no other who could have elevated the dress as Hurley did. For example, the dress has also been worn by Lady Gaga as a homage to Elizabeth, but it doesn’t have the same magic as when Elizabeth wore it.

Audrey Hepburn Black Givenchy dress

Audrey Hepburn’s Black Givenchy dress in the 1961 romantic comedy film Breakfasts at Tiffany’s. It’s possibly one of the most iconic little black dress. From the hairstyle to her shoes, everything about the ensemble made it instantly recognizable and memorable. It captures the essence of elegance and high society. It’s also one of the few outfits that made its way into popular culture and referenced heavily in many artworks.

Sharon Stone White Dress in Basic Instinct

The movie scene that had millions of people rewinding for the crossover of her legs, was made iconic by the outfit. Dressed in all white, Sharon Stone’s character was the Devil in white personified. It has also been parodied and referenced many times, and how can it not be?

Liza Minnelli Iconic Cabaret Outfit

Liza Minnelli’s performance scene in Cabaret had her slinking in a fitted deep “v” dark one-piece, with stockings and a bowler hat. Her dancing and singing simply knock you off your feet.

Sandy’s outfit in Grease

The sexy all-black ensemble, with leather, a hint of danger and confidence. The whole look is iconic and really epitomizes the movie. The big hair and topped off with the red shoes, whew what a look.

Grace Kelly’s Wedding Dress

Grace Kelly’s Wedding Dress she wore when she married the Prince of Monaco is a sight to behold. Created by Helen Rose a dress designer at MGM Studios. The gown had delicate last, fitted, delicate and fit for the royalty of course. Her dress has inspired many other wedding gowns and stood the test of time for its classic appeal.

Emma Stone’s Yellow Dress in La La Land

Emma Stone’s Yellow dress with it’s flower print in La la Land is simplistic but stood out in the lovely dance scene with Ryan Gosling. It fit the bright and lovely atmosphere of the song and it definitely made me want to get the dress for my own wardrobe.

This dress has already been parodied and worn for it’s simplistic bright look. For example iconic k-pop group TWICE had a scene that paid homage to La La Land.
